This week’s New Music Monday is a little different to my usual style. This is ‘Let Me In’:
If you can’t play the song or are on an iPhone or Android phone, click here.
Let Me In
When it’s over and you alight
Close the door turn out the light
Wear your poker face with pride
Like you were shown now
It’s not a case of giving in
It’s their world you’ll never win
And if you did what would you gain?
You’d be cold now
Chorus
See their eyes (Blank and wide)
In another life (Another time)
You’d turn the tables and you’d be right
And they’d say they’re sorry (3)
Let me in (4)
They’d say ignorance suits you fine
And everything you believe are lies
And in a way maybe they’re right
But you’re not cold now
Chorus
I found this very emotional – Think it might be my fav so far!
Okay, admittedly, I clicked on the song completely prepared to be unimpressed. it happens a lot, you know, with all the aspiring musician crap on the net?
However, I really liked the song and even let it continue to play while I finished up my morning routine. I’m looking forward to more posts and really looking forward to New Music Mondays…
Okay, this is now second to Janey. Honestly, the emotion in this song is great. I’m gonna listen again.
I don’t know how you do it, but so often your songs relate perfectly to the stuff going on in the chaotic life I lead outside of Twitter. Carrying this with me today… Thank you!
Derek, I really like all of your music, I just LOVE getting the tweet telling me it’s Music Monday. I always make time to come here and listen. I am so happy I did, your work is always so varied.
I especially love this song, there is something reminiscence of “Hole” but in a cooler modern and softer twist.
Defo one of my top fave yet.
Do you mind if I nick this and put a link to it on my blog (obvs I will credit u and point people your way?
Play on
I agree with Louise, Derek. Think this is my fave so far. Beautiful!
Whoa and hey. Nice one! Wish I could add this to my play list for my WIP. It’s a perfect fit for the false front the hero has to wear…super!
I really enjoyed this one!
I also wanted to let you know that I nominated you for The Versatile Blogger Award. If you check out my most recent post on my blog you will find the rules for doing your own nominations.

Derek this is really pretty. You know, it reminds me of 80s music. I can’t place who it reminds me of, though. I’m listening to it with my husband, and we’re speculating about who the style sounds like. I think the style sounds like a mix of Duran Duran and Winger. My husband said it reminded him of “Last Kiss” by Pearl Jam. So good job! You interested us both.
Dude! I love your music! A playlist would be epic! You should post a playlist of YOUR favorite songs! We could see where you get your inspiration and who you draw from!!
Another great Monday of music…and I’ve given you a blog award too! Check it out.

Love this one! A great intimate Derek vocal with elements of New Order & Dick Dale with Ruth’s haunting back up. Wow!
Great song – really enjoyed it, and love the guitar!
Who knew? I follow you on twitter, and I’ve often thought you were amusing, but this time, after reading about you in someone’s blog, I followed the link to here. You’re a damn fine singer and song writer, Derek. I will come back again.
